Annual barbecue set at Immanuel Lutheran

The annual Men’s Club Barbecue begins at 5 p.m. today at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Copperas Cove.

Everyone is invited.

A meal of barbecue brisket, sausage, potato salad, beans, dessert, tea and coffee is $10 for adults, $5 (ages 5-11), and free (ages 5 and younger).

Public invited to pray at pregnancy center

The public is invited to the monthly citywide time of prayer is from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday at Hope Pregnancy Center.

The prayer is to petition the Lord on behalf of the unborn in the spirit of biblical unity.

Fellowship luncheon scheduled Tuesday

The Killeen Christian Ministers Fellowship monthly prayer luncheon begins at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at East Side Baptist Church, 500 N. W.S. Young Drive.

All pastors, ministers and chaplains in the greater Killeen and Fort Hood area are invited.

Senior pastors who are unable to attend are encouraged to send a representative.

A complimentary lunch will be provided.

The fellowship is an informal organization whose goal is to strengthen relationships among the spiritual leaders of the community. There are no dues or fees, and membership is open to all pastors, ministers and chaplains in the local area.

The group meets on the first Tuesday of each month for fellowship and prayer.

Church to celebrate Women’s Day

Simmonsville Missionary Baptist Church’s annual Women’s Day celebration kicks off with a prayer breakfast at 8 a.m. June 8.

Celebration continues at 3:30 p.m. June 9 with Dr. Monty Francis.

Francis received his Bachelor of Arts degree in religion in 1985 from Baylor University. In 1992, he earned his Masters of Arts in education and administration from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. In 2010, he was awarded his doctorate from Walden University.

Francis, director of student assessment at El Centro College, also is an Old Testament and New Testament Studies instructor.

The two-day celebration is being held at the Stewart C. Meyer Library on Indian Trail in Harker Heights.

Tickets are $9 per person and may be purchased at the church or at the door.

Holy Tabernacle to celebrate 55 years

God’s Holy Tabernacle COGIC 55th Church Anniversary celebration starts at 4 p.m. June 9.

Public invited to Praise in the Streets

The Temple of Faith Apostolic Ministries will host its first Praise in the Streets from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. June 15 at 808 N. Eighth St. in Killeen.

The church will have variety of games, food, singing, and a host of fun and fellowship.

The City of Killeen and surrounding areas are cordially invited to attend this event with a day of fun with family, friends and Temple of Faith’s church family.

Father’s Day concert planned at center

Joe Ligon and The Mighty Clouds of Joy will perform a Father’s Day Concert at 4 p.m. June 16 at The People’s Choice Worship Center.

Advance general admission tickets or tickets at the door are $25 each.

Advance VIP tickets, $35 each, include a “meet and greet” with the Mighty Clouds of Joy and refreshments after the concert.

Ministry to host Father’s Day dinner

The Rivers of Living Waters Ministry will host a Father’s Day dinner from 1 to 5 p.m. June 16 at the Bishop’s Place.

Dinner consists of a choice of smoked chicken or smoked brisket, with two sides. Each plate is $7 per adult and $3 per child (10 and under).

Children’s choir to perform June 16

African Children’s Choir performances are scheduled for 10:45 a.m. and 6 p.m. June 16 at Community Fellowship Church of the Nazarene, 2001 N. Valley Mills Drive, Waco.

The choir has educated more than 52,000 children and impacted the lives of 100,000 people through its relief and development programs during its 29-year history.

A free-will offering is taken at the performance to support the African Children’s Choir programs, such as education, care, and relief and development programs.

African Children’s Choir works in seven African countries: Uganda, Kenya, Rwanda, Sudan, Nigeria, Ghana and South Africa.

The choir has performed before presidents, heads of state and most recently the Queen of England.

The choir also has sung with Paul McCartney, Annie Lennox, Keith Urban, Mariah Carey, Michael W. Smith, Steven Curtis Chapman and other inspirational singers.

Grant-writing seminar planned for June 22

A grant-writing workshop is scheduled for June 22 at the Harker Heights Activity Center, 400 Indian Trail.

The seminar is designed to equip attendees with tools and real-world applicable experiences.
