Magnolia First Baptist to honor pastor, wife

The members, family and friends of Magnolia First Baptist Church will honor their pastor and wife at an appreciation service at 3 p.m. Sunday.

Pastor David L. Norman and first lady Vivian L. Norman have led Magnolia FBC for 24 years.

The program’s theme is “Honoring Pastors.”

Pastor Michael Johnson of Agape Church of God in Christ in Killeen will bring the message.

Magnolia FBC is undergoing a transition to a new structure.

Services are held at the Southwest Elementary School cafeteria at 611 Saunders St. in Belton.

Author set to speak at Bethel Church service

Janie Burkett, author of “Unshackled — The Road to Freedom” will be the pulpit guest at Sunday’s 10:30 a.m. worship service at Bethel Church at 4307 E. Veterans Memorial Blvd. in Killeen.

The book details her life of crime and corruption, drug and alcohol addiction that placed her on the wrong side of the law.

She has shared her story of repentance and redemption on numerous television programs.

Burkett is building a Christian-based rehabilitation center for girls called Janie’s House of Hope.

Burkett will attend a meeting at 4 p.m. aimed at but not limited to those who are or have been victims of substance abuse.

Heights church to host school of leaders

The Diocese of Austin English Cursillo will hold a school of leaders at 2 p.m. Sunday at the old parish hall of St. Paul Chong Hasang Catholic Church at 1000 E. Farm-to-Market 2410 in Harker Heights.

The meeting will be followed by its monthly Fort Hood area Ultreya from 3 to 5 p.m.

Ministers group to meet for prayer luncheon

The Killeen Christian Ministers Fellowship monthly prayer luncheon will be at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at East Side Baptist Church at 500 N. WS Young Drive in Killeen.

All pastors, ministers and chaplains in the Killeen area are invited. Senior pastors who are unable to attend are encouraged to send a representative.

A complimentary lunch will be provided.

The Killeen Christian Ministers Fellowship is an informal organization whose goal is to strengthen relationships among the spiritual leaders of the community. There are no dues or fees, and membership is open to all pastors, ministers and chaplains in the local area.

The group meets on the first Tuesday of each month for fellowship and prayer.

Public invited to pray at Hope Pregnancy Center

Area residents are invited to attend the monthly citywide time of prayer from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday at Hope Pregnancy Center in Killeen.

Participants will petition the Lord on behalf of the unborn.

The center is in Southpointe Center south of the Copper Mountain post office on W.S. Young Drive, Suite 301-C.

Cove church to host vocal ensemble June 7

Grace United Methodist Church in Copperas Cove will host the vocal ensemble Light from California Baptist University’s Collinsworth School of Music at 6 p.m. June 7.

This student-led ensemble is committed to ministering through music. Each summer, these small groups travel across the United States and perform in churches, schools and summer camps.

Thursday’s speaker is Dr. David Davis of Jesus’ Name Apostolic Ministry in Copperas Cove.

On Friday, the speaker is district elder Floyd King of Born Again Apostolic Assembly in Waco.

‘Walk for Jesus’ scheduled for today

Agape COGIC under the leadership of Pastor Michael Johnson is set to host the “Walk for Jesus” from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. today at the Killeen Community Center, 2201 E. Veterans Memorial Blvd., Killeen.

Registration starts at 7:30 a.m. Warm-up is a 8 a.m. The walk begins at 8:30 a.m.

Simmonsville Missionary Baptist Church’s annual women’s day program begins at 3:30 p.m. June 8.
