Outdoor Worship, Pet Blessing set for Sunday
The annual Outdoor Worship and Pet Blessing begins at 10 a.m. Sunday on the church grounds of Immanuel Lutheran Church, 1104 N. Fourth St., Killeen.
The 8 a.m. worship service will be inside as usual. In case of rain the service will be moved inside.
Lunch will follow the outdoor worship. Barbecue will be provided.
All attendees are asked to bring a side dish to complete the meal. Drinks, ice and utensils will be provided. Bring lawn chairs if you want, but chairs will be available.
Bible Way Missionary to celebrate family, friends
The 19th annual Family and Friends Day Celebration begins at 3:30 p.m. Sunday at Bible Way Missionary Baptist Church.
Guest speaker will be Dr. Nika L. J. Davis, Pastor of the Second Missionary Baptist Church in Waco. His choir will be rendering the music along with the Bible Way Music Ministry.

KPLE-TV names new board members
New board members recently were elected for Killeen Christian Broadcasting Corporation (KPLE-TV).
New members are Bill Jones, Temple; Maureen Jouett, Killeen; Lt. Col. Kenneth Sorenson, Belton; Allan Parker, San Antonio; and Ace Turland, Killeen. Catherine Mason serves as president.
Susan Mooney, Robert and N. Perry Mason will continue to serve on the board of directors.
Glen Cosper volunteered to assist KPLE-TV in fundraising activities.
Carol Miner began teaching classes on the art of making stained glass in the KPLE-TV studio Sept. 24.
The recording sessions will be open to a live studio audience.

LDS to build new meetinghouse
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints announced the planned construction of a new meetinghouse at 2090 Verna Lee Blvd. in Harker Heights. The groundbreaking is scheduled for May.
The facility will offer parking spaces for 250 vehicles and will seat 300 people in the chapel.
The building will be completed by May 2016. The meetinghouse will also have an outside lighted pavilion that will be used for church activities, such as picnics and other social events.
Anderson Chapel A.M.E. to have guest preacher
The Rev. Marlon Jones will be the guest preacher at Anderson Chapel A.M.E. Church at 10:30 a.m. Sunday at 1002 Jefferies Ave., Killeen.
The Rev. William M. Campbell Jr. is the senior pastor.
Jones is the founder of North Texas Voices of Influence Inc. a Texas-based nonprofit organization that specializes in providing mentoring services for boys ages 12-18.
He earned a Bachelor of Science in sociology from Paul Quinn College.
Jones has worked in the field of youth development and human services for nine years in public and private school systems, recreational programs as well as nonprofit youth organizations.
Jones is working toward a Master of Divinity at Texas Christian University’s Brite Divinity School in Fort Worth. He is married to Scherrie Jones, and they have three children.
Also observed throughout this weekend is the Fresh Fire initiative of the local Women’s Missionary Society.
As last year, the local society will wear blue jeans and white shirts/blouses and red high heels noting that they are walking in high places with Christ.
This year’s agency outreach will again benefit the Central Texas Sickle Cell Anemia Association.
This year the association marks 31 years of service to the Central Texas community.

Community Baptist to host gospel sing
Community Baptist Church will host a gospel sing Sunday.
Worship service is from 11 a.m. to noon. A covered-dish luncheon starts after the worship service. Singing begins at 1:15 p.m.

St. Andrews UMC plans Night Out event
A National Night Out event is from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at St. Andrews United Methodist Church, corner of Florence and Fowler Roads in Killeen.
There will be ice cream and toppings provided by the church as well as a Freeze-o-ree.
The public is invited to bring their own homemade ice cream and submit it for judging. You must have your ice cream ready to serve by 6:15 p.m.

Ministers fellowship luncheon set for Tuesday
The Killeen Christian Ministers Fellowship monthly prayer luncheon will be at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at East Side Baptist Church, 500 N. W.S. Young Drive.
All pastors, ministers and chaplains in the area are invited. Senior pastors who are unable to attend are encouraged to send a representative.
A complimentary lunch will be provided.
The Killeen Christian Ministers Fellowship is an informal organization whose goal is to strengthen relationships among the spiritual leaders of the community.
There are no dues or fees, and membership is open to all pastors, ministers and chaplains in the local area.
The group meets on the first Tuesday of each month for fellowship and prayer.

White Elephant Garage Sale planned Oct. 6
The annual Katolická Jednota Texaská, KJT Society No. 128 (Catholic Union of Texas), will host a White Elephant Garage Sale on Oct. 6.
There will be an assortment of clothes, toys and household goods.
A matching funds grant will be provided by The Catholic Union of Texas-KJT Home Office.
All proceeds from the white elephant sale will go to the upkeep of St. Joseph’s Church, the school and recreational center.

Musical group to mark 11-year anniversary
