Free food pantry at Open Arms ministry

A free monthly food pantry begins at 9 a.m. today at Open Arms Outreach ministry, 409 Eighth St., Killeen.

In addition to the food giveaway, breakfast burritos will be served at no charge. The food pantry will remain open today only as long as the food lasts.

The free food pantry is part of a community outreach program held on the third Saturday of each month.

The ministry serves the community by providing emergency food, toiletry items, and financial assistance and counseling. It also operates an adult literacy program and offers free educational tutoring for school-age children.

Amazing Grace hosts carnival today

Amazing Grace Fellowship will celebrate its two-year anniversary with a carnival from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. today.

The carnival features vendors, food, a dunking booth, jump house, face painting, a cake walk, balloons, animals and carnival games.

The public is invited to the event at 1600 E. Rancier Ave., Killeen.

Bible Way plans concert, celebration

The music ministry of Bible Way Missionary Baptist Church will hold its annual musical at 6:30 p.m. today.

Music will be provided by local soloists and choirs.

The Annual Day Celebration begins at 3:30 p.m. Sunday.

Speaker for this occasion will be Pastor Connie Oliver of Greater New Light Missionary Baptist Church, Waco.

Youth Program at Second Street

The annual Youth Program at Second Street Baptist Church begins at 3:30 p.m. Sunday at 1602 N. Second St., Killeen.

Master Singers to perform in Temple

The Central Texas Master Singers Choir & Orchestra, a faith-based vocal performance group, will perform its orchestrated season finale concert at 6 p.m. Sunday at the Cultural Activities Center in Temple.

Ministry, chaplain to help inmates

Bartlett State Jail welcomes Kairos from Thursday through May 26.

Kairos Ministries along with Chaplain Strmiska will provide inmates at the facility with food, music, testimonies, and church services for a spirit-filled four-day weekend.

Earnest Pugh, others performing Friday

A concert featuring Earnest Pugh with Rob Hall & Company is Friday at the Killeen Arts and Activity Center, 801 N. Fourth St.

Pugh, a former soldier stationed at Fort Hood, has appeared on the Bobby Jones Show and Video Gospel. He is also a five-time Stellar Award nominee.

Advance tickets are $20 per person or $25 at the door. VIP seating available.

Revival planned at Agape COGIC

The “Building the Kingdom of God” Revival is from May 29 to June 1 at 7 nightly, except for Sunday at Agape COGIC.

The revival concludes with an 11 a.m. service. Bishop McIver is the guest speaker.

Grace Christian to host book signing

Author Sandy Fulkerson will have a book signing from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 26 at Grace Christian Center, 1401 E. Elms Road, Killeen.

Fulkerson, of Houston, will be available to sign copies of her book, “Bread Crumbs on Purpose.”

In the classic fairy tale, “Hansel and Gretel,” bread crumbs were purposely left along the path so that those young children might safely find their way back home.

Fulkerson shares how she’s seen God’s plan for her life — his Bread Crumbs on Purpose — through the ups and downs of life.

Whether it’s helping her husband transition back to civilian life after active duty in the military or dealing with difficult family relationships, she is transparent about her struggles, readers will be encouraged by this story of faith and trust.

Public invited to hear Pausitive Band

The Pausitive Band will be in concert at Pidcoke Baptist Church at 6 p.m. May 29.

The Pausitive Band is a family of singers and instrumentalists from Goldthwaite.

The band consists of four Pausewang family members. Daughter Mikaela, 12, sings lead on most of their songs. Wendy and her sons, Derek, 13, and Logan, 7, join Mikaela, creating the harmony.

Recently, the band received the “Rising Star” award from the Gatesville Country Music Hall of Fame.

Pidcoke Baptist Church is on Farm-to-Market 116 halfway between Copperas Cove and Gatesville.

A time of fellowship with light snacks will be shared after the concert. A love offering will be taken for the Pausititive Band and its ministry.

Healing Rooms offer ministry training

The Killeen Healing Rooms are in the KPLE-TV building at 502 E. Elms Road in Killeen.

The organization’s commission is based on Mark 16:17-18, “And these signs shall follow those that believe ... they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.”

The group’s desire is to bring together believers from all over the community to pray for the sick and see miracles happen.

Ministry planning Father’s Day dinner

The Rivers of Living Waters Ministry will host a Father’s Day dinner from 1 to 5 p.m. June 16 at the Bishop’s Place.

Dinner consists of a choice of smoked chicken or smoked brisket, with two sides. Each plate is $7 per adult and $3 per child (10 and younger).

S.A. spiritual center plans Killeen visit

The Eckankar Spiritual Center of San Antonio will host a discussion on spiritual experiences from 12:30 to 2 p.m. today at the Killeen Community Center in room 110.

Topics include: out-of-body or near-death experiences, dream messages and journeys, inner light or inner sound, a sense you’ve lived before.

Jazz concert set for downtown Killeen

The Men of Unity and the city of Killeen will host a Jazz Concert called “Musical Night of Hope” at 7 p.m. May 31 at the Killeen Arts and Activities Center in the Performing Arts Auditorium.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m.

The red carpet event is a collaborative effort to bring greater awareness for the need of a homeless shelter and services to the community.

The event is free and open to the public; however, a ticket is required to attend and can be picked up at the Arts and Activities Center, at 801 N. Second St., downtown Killeen, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.

First Baptist-Killeen to host potluck

Senior Adult First Thursday begins at 10:30 a.m. June 6 at First Baptist Church Killeen, 3310 S. W.S. Young Drive.

House directors for the Soldiers Hospitality House in Killeen, Chris and Elizabeth May, will present a program about their ministry to service members at 11 a.m.
