It’s interesting that as I write this article, that today is Sept. 11, Patriots Day.
This is the day on which we remember the terrorist attacks that occurred Sept. 11, 2001. It was a time that we will never forget and will always be remembered in our country’s history that was so sad and changed the whole world as we knew it.
Sitting here it makes me think of another time that will always be remembered that happened way back when everything began.
“In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.” (Genesis 1:1, KJV)
For in the next seven days we have God’s template of creation. A template is simply a pattern for testing accuracy of form.
If we will understand God’s plan, follow His pattern, then we’ll receive His promises. So, with this in mind, I would like for us to use it as a template for our lives.
Let’s look at each day so we to can pattern our life after it.
• Day 1 — Genesis 1:3, “... Let there be light ...”
Vision: God created the light to cause sight to come about in the midst of the darkness.
• Day 2 — Gen. 1:6, “... Let there be a firmament ...”
Atmosphere: God created heaven before He did earth bringing the super into our natural, establishing the unseen before the seen, representing flow.
• Day 3 — Gen. 1:9, “... Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place ...”
Structure: God created the earth separating the parts of the unseen from the seen bringing form out of the darkness and void to end confusion.
• Day 4 — Gen. 1:14, “... Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night ...”
Order: God created stability from distinguishing night and day with a sun, moon and stars to bring about a purpose for each ending chaos.
• Day 5 — Gen. 1:20, “ ... Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that hath life ...”
Movement: God created momentum to bring about fruitfulness instead of stagnation.
Day 6 — Gen. 1:26, “ ... Let us make man in our image, after our likeness ...”
Relationships: God created man to have someone to fellowship with and someone to care for His creation.
• Day 7 — Gen. 2:2, “And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made…”
Rest: God created a day where we stop laboring for Him while making it about us and delight in God while making it all about Him.
Notice how God’s template for creating was done each day by Him speaking it into existence.
We, too, must speak into our lives daily now that we understand the plan and follow the pattern, so we can receive the promise of life and it more abundantly, as Jesus said, “ ... I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.” (St. John 10:10, KJV)
