Garden of Gethsemane COGIC will celebrate its 25 years in ministry this month.

The celebration will take place at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 28 and at 4 p.m. Oct. 30.

The church was founded by the Rev. Willie D. Grove and first lady Florence Grove.

Willie D. Grove now serves as superintendent of the C.H. Mason District of the Texas Southeast Jurisdiction of COGIC, and his wife is a district missionary.

The church is in the building that served as the city’s first post office in in the early 1960s.

“We moved into this building in 1991 and have been here ever since with our family beside us — Elder and missionary Wyche and grandchildren. Many have come and many have gone, but to God be the glory,” Florence Grove said.

“This is an awesome anniversary we have been waiting for,” Grove said.

“We hope for many more to come,” Pastor Grove said. “When God puts you in a place, you are there until he says differently. Thank the Lord for the time and blessing he allowed us to just be here and minister to his people.”

Speakers for the anniversary celebration on Oct. 28 will be Pastor Robert Curtis of New Life Church and Fellowship in Temple. The guest speaker on Oct. 30 will be Apostle Sadallie Cole of True Deliverance Ministries in Killeen.

Garden of Gethsemane COGIC is at 111 Cox Drive in Harker Heights.
