HARKER HEIGHTS — The 36th annual Harker Heights community Easter sunrise service is at 7 a.m. Sunday at the amphitheater in Carl Levin Park.
The service is sponsored by the Kiwanis Club, with the assistance of local churches.
Paul Loughran, club president, and Mayor Rob Robinson will welcome the congregation.
The Rev. David Morgan, pastor of Trinity Baptist Church, will introduce clergy members.
The Easter message will be delivered by the Rev. John Beckling, pastor of Harker Heights United Methodist Church.
The Rev. Vincent Gillard, pastor of Crossroad Missionary Baptist Church, will deliver the opening prayer.
The Rev. David Starkey Sr., pastor of the First Assembly of God, will assist in organizing the service.
The Rev. Philemon Brown, pastor of Harker Heights Community Church, will lead the responsive reading.
Deacon Klaus Adam, St. Paul Chong Hasang Catholic Church, will read the Old Testament scripture.
The Rev. Jung Hyun Kim, pastor of the Crossway Korean Baptist Church, will read the New Testament scripture.
Deacon Mark Weaver of Harker Heights First Baptist Church will give the benediction.
A community choir composed of members from participating churches will perform.
If it rains, the service will be conducted at Trinity Baptist Church on Farm-to-Market 2410 near the south entrance to Carl Levin Park.
Youth to serve breakfast
An Easter breakfast will be served by the youth of Harker Heights United Methodist Church at the city’s library after the service.
The public is invited to the sunrise service and Easter breakfast.
