A Christian conference expected to draw more than 700 people encourages men to support each other.
“Men Rescuing Men” is the theme of this year’s “Men of Integrity Conference” on Sept. 6-7 at The Rivers of Living Waters Ministry in Killeen.
All boys from 13 to 18 years old and men of all denominations and ethnic groups are invited to the free event. Bishop Darryl Shaw of The Rivers of Living Waters Ministry is the conference coordinator.
Shaw said the conference has two purposes. “The conference is for the unification and identification of senior pastors in our community to come together for worship and also to provide role models to (show) teenage boys that there are men who live right and love God.”
The conference will open with a night of worship Sept. 6 with keynote speaker Mike Satterfield, who is the teaching pastor at Fielder Church in Arlington. He speaks often to groups across Texas.
The owner of Field of Grace Ministries, Satterfield said he is excited at the opportunity to be in Killeen.
“I am coming to Killeen to start a revolution,” he said. “We want the fires fanned (for God’s kingdom) so it is contagious across Killeen.”
The topic of Satterfield’s keynote speech on opening night will focus on Micah 6: 7-8 and God’s role as a perfect father. The emphasis will be “Big Things Coming from Small Places.” It will be targeted at men and teenage boys “who never received fatherly instruction and discipleship to equip them on the path to righteousness” Satterfield, said.
Classes the following day include men’s health and wellness, power of the son-ship, effective fatherhood, man and his money and a class designed specifically for teenage boys called Boyhood to Manhood.
More than 30 churches throughout Killeen are involved in the conference and are covering the cost of the event.
The attire for the conference is casual.
