The final Patio Café dinner of the semester, hosted by the Central Texas College Culinary Arts department, is Friday.
Italian cuisine will be served from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in the culinary area of the Student Center (building 106).
Prepared by students in the international cuisine class of the Culinary Hospitality program, the menu features the following items.
Start the meal with a choice of soup or appetizer: zuppa de cozze, or Sicilian mussel soup, ($10 or add a cup to a meal for $2.50 or a bowl for $5); fried ravioli ($4.50). The featured salad is the traditional antipasti salad — a hand-tossed salad with capacola, salami and ham with fresh romaine lettuce and marinated artichokes tossed in white balsamic vinaigrette and served with a honey oat roll ($10.50). Or choose the house salad ($3.75 or free with an entrée).
The entrees for the evening are teglia de pesca spade, or marinated swordfish, ($20); fettuccini Alfredo with grilled shrimp ($15); and chicken parmesan ($11). All entrees are served with a choice of two side dishes. Choose from sautéed eggplant and zucchini, prosciutto and parmesan risotto; vera in umido (cabbage stewed in wine) or roasted garlic potato gnocchi. Additional side dishes are $1.50 each.
Cap off the evening with a dessert of either traditional Italian tiramisu ($4.50) or apple strudel with limoncello mousse ($4.50).
Reservations for the Patio Café are required by calling 254-526-1515 by 10 a.m. Thursday. Seating is limited due to ongoing construction in the building.
