LAMPASAS — “They are amazing, it was definitely worth the trip,” Amy Anderson said while enjoying a schnitzel at Eve’s Café on the Square.

A friend told her about the murals in Lampasas, especially “Lampasas County Wildflowers,” and since she is passionate about botany, she didn’t think twice about making the drive from Georgetown to see them.

Ever since the Art Committee of Vision Lampasas unveiled “Boots,” a 15- by 46-foot mural near the intersection of Western and Fourth streets on Nov. 13, 2008, five more murals have graced the walls in Lampasas’ historic district.

Following “Boots,” “Generations” is a tribute to the many businesses that occupied a building on Second Street since the late 1800s.

“Postcard from Lampasas” is inspired by vintage postcards, and “Water is Life” tells the story of the Sulphur Creek watershed and its significance to the people of Lampasas. “Hunt and Fish in Lampasas County” illustrates the hunting and fishing traditions in Lampasas County.

Volunteers like Libby Bluntzer, Shirley Blake, Katherine Mezger, Joann Davidson, Barbara Adams, Sharon Pinkney, Nancee Stevens, Dianna Hodges, president of Vision Lampasas, and others have made it possible for the walls of Lampasas to showcase local traditions, flora, fauna and history.
