Javier Smith had 16 points and eight rebounds to help send the Patterson seventh-grade A-team Cavaliers into the semifinals of the Killeen ISD Invitational on Thursday with a 61-44 win over Temple Bonham.

Other contributors for Patterson were Tyler Gains (14 points, eight rebounds), Tony McIntosh (11 points), Frankie Santiago (nine points, seven rebounds, two blocks), Marquise Mango (nine points) and Deric Jones (two points).

UNION GROVE 7A 54, PALO ALTO 7A 36: Tyrese Smith scored 14 points and the Grizzlies bounced back from a first-round loss.

Other scorers for Union Grove were Evan Chatman (13 points), Jayden Chatman (10), Dayne Holden (eight), Javonni Goodrich (seven), Marcus McMillan and Aimeer Washington (four each) and Re’Shawn Sanford (two).

Tony Bradley led Palo Alto with eight points. Alex Angulo added seven, and Adrian Sheffield had six.

RANCIER 8A DEF. NOLAN 8A: Albert Powell had seven points, 10 rebounds and  a block to help lead the Karoos to a second-round victory.

Rancier led by 10 at halftime, then fended off a late charge by the Mustangs.

Wednesday

LIBERTY HILL 7A 50, RANCIER 7A 21: Jamyron Keller scored 19 points and the Lions raced out to a 25-2 lead en route to a victory in the first round of the tournament.

Rancier bounced back with a 17-point second quarter to pull within 36-17, but struggled again in the second half.

Other scores for Liberty Hill (6-1) were Jy’juan Eskridge (10 points), Ryan Allen (nine), Gabe Ramirez (four), Shawn Timmons and Ta’shun Berry (three each) and Marcus Rush (two). Jordan Bailey was a defensive standout.

ACADEMY 7A 37, PALO ALTO 7A 30: Academy capitalized on the Patriots’ foul problems and used the free-throw line to rally in the fourth quarter for a victory.

Palo Alto led 17-11 at halftime. Academy rallied in the second, aided by 16 free throw attempts.

TEMPLE TRAVIS 7A 45, UNION GROVE 7A 34: Tyrese Smith led Union Grove with 16 points.

Other scorers for the Grizzlies were Evan Chatman (10 points), Aimeer Washington and Jayden Chatman (eight each) and Javonni Goodrich (two).

PATTERSON 8A DEF. MANOR 8A: Howard Johnson and Elias Santiago each scored 11 points to lead the Cavaliers in a first-round victory.

The Cavs jumped out to a 17-5 lead after the first quarter and never looked back.

EASTERN HILLS 7A DEF. PALO ALTO 7A: Palo Alto was led by Alex Angulo, Zachary Manson and Nickolus Caldwell.

PATTERSON 7A 49, UNION GROVE 7A 27: Javier Smith scored 16 points to lead the Cavaliers to a win.

LIBERTY HILL 7A 70, NOLAN 7A 51: Jamyron Keller scored 31 points and the Lions took command with a big second quarter.

Other scorers for Liberty Hill were Ryan Allen (14 points), Jeremiah Jones (seven), Jy’juan Eskridge (six), Shawn Timmons and Jordan Bailey (five each) and Suntisouk Southhichak and Marcus Rush (two each). Gabriel Ramirez was a defensive standout.

Liberty Hill (5-1, 3-0 conference) trailed 14-12 after the opening quarter, but scored 23 points in the second to take a 35-20 halftime lead.

SMITH 7A 51, MANOR 7A 43: At Manor, Jadarius Murphy had 14 rebounds and two blocks to help the Leopards remain unbeaten in conference play.

Marvinus Phillip had eight rebounds, three blocks and a steal. Jamarius Stewart had four steals and six assists. Dion Ware and Pablo Picacio were offensive standouts.

RANCIER 7A 51, AUDIE MURPHY 7A 36: George Archer scored 15 points in the Ka-Roos’ victory.

AUDIE MURPHY 8A 42, RANCIER 8A 36: At Audie Murphy, Tyquan Scoby led the defeated Karoos with nine rebounds, four steals and two points.

LIBERTY HILL 8A 59, NOLAN 8A 35: Uriyah Evans scored 14 points, and Iv’rson Lavizzo added 13 to lead the Lions to a victory.

PATTERSON 8A 55, UNION GROVE 8A 38: Breon Williams scored 15 points and the Cavaliers led all the way after grabbing a 17-6 first-quarter lead.

PATTERSON 8A 63, AUDIE MURPHY 8A 55: Howard Johnson scored 28 points and the Cavaliers used clutch defensive stops and timely baskets down the stretch to pick up a victory.

PATTERSON 8B 35, AUDIE MURPHY 8B 34: Jamal Williams scored 12 points and the Cavaliers came out on top in a back-and-forth affair.

PATTERSON 7A 32, UNION GROVE 7A 12: DeYanna Reed had 12 points, 10 steals and four rebounds to help lead the Lady Cavaliers to a victory.

PATTERSON 8A 54, UNION GROVE 8A 23: Evelyn Lorenzo led the victorious Lady Cavaliers in scoring for the third straight week with 18 points to go with three assists and four steals.

PALO ALTO 8A 39, EASTERN HILLS 8A 9: Ja’Mesha Reece scored 17 points, and Kaylah Cherry added 12 to lead the Lady Patriots to a victory.

Other scorers for Palo Alto were Mekiyla Kerley (five points), Janiyah Hall (three) and Alyssa Burrell-Holmes (one).

Keyshany Pizarro, Elicia Weaver, Jahlaiza Wiggins, Alicia Rolland and Janea White were defensive standouts.

RANCIER 8A 33, AUDIE MURPHY 8A 16: At Rancier, Sugiely Nieves scored 11 of her 18 points in the first half as the Lady Roos jumped out to a 15-7 lead at halftime en route to a victory.

Diamond Brunn led the way in the second half, when she scored nine of her 13 points to finish off the win.

The teams met earlier this season with Rancier collecting a one-point victory.

Keonna Grier and K’Mara Downs stepped up on the defensive end for the Lady Roos.
