A Fort Hood soldier is behind bars and facing a charge of desertion.

Pvt. Donald Wesley Lin Thomas, 27, was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Bill Cooke on Thursday, and is being held without bail at the Bell County Jail.

Thomas was assigned to Fort Hood’s 2nd Battalion, 12th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, and originally went absent without leave from the installation April 29.

He was arrested Wednesday in Killeen.
