The Fort Hood Fisher House collected about 7,000 boots for the Hero & Remembrance Run, Walk or Roll event Saturday. The boots represent the service members who were killed in the last 13 years of combat, including victims of the Nov. 5, 2009, and April 2 shootings at Fort Hood.

Tags with a photo and information about each fallen service member were attached to the boots by a team of volunteers. The boots, which lined the runners’ course Saturday, are on display at the III Corps Headquarters building, on the corner of Tank Destroyer Boulevard and T.J. Mills Boulevard. The boots will remain on display through Veterans Day on Tuesday. Family members and friends are welcome to visit the display in honor of the service members.
