Fire - burn

The smoke seen by area residents coming from Fort Hood was a controlled burn and not a fire started by training on the post’s shooting ranges, according to a Fort Hood spokesman.

The burn will continue until the fire puts itself out, said Chris Haug, post spokesman. It is unclear how long that will take.

The burn is designed to clear out underbrush to make the post ranges safer, he said.
