III Corps/Ft. Hood 42nd Annual Retiree Appreciation Day

At least 300 military retirees from all branches of the Armed Forces wait for the opening ceremony at the III Corps and Fort Hood 42nd Annual Retiree Appreciation Day at Club Hood on Saturday, Oct. 29, 2016.

FORT HOOD — The post’s Retirement Services opened up the doors for retired soldiers and their families Saturday with a free breakfast and activities at Club Hood.

Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center hosted a health fair for those attending. Post groups such as Legal Assistance, Identification Card Issue and the Veterans Affairs mobile veterans center assisted with issues such as wills, powers of attorney, new ID cards and new disability claims.

“As military retirees, you understand both the honor and the sacrifice which comes with service to a nation,” said III Corps and Fort Hood commander Lt. Gen. Sean MacFarland in a letter to retirees inviting them to the event.
