FORT HOOD — Fort Hood officials released the name of a soldier who died of an apparent gunshot wound Monday in Killeen.

Circumstances surrounding the incident are under investigation.

Pfc. Randal Kenneth Anderson, 22, whose home of record is listed as Sutter Creek, Calif., entered active-duty service in February 2015 as an M1 armor crewman. He was assigned to 2nd Squadron, 7th Cavalry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, since June 2016.

Anderson’s awards and decorations include the National Defense Service Medal and Army Service Ribbon.
