Fort Hood identifies soldier killed Sunday

Fort Hood officials released the name of a soldier who died in a one-vehicle accident Sunday night in Harker Heights.

Spc. Jong Dal Lee, 21, of Arcadia, Calif., entered active-duty service in April 2010 as an infantryman. He arrived at Fort Hood in August 2010 and was assigned to Alpha Company, 1st Battalion, 8th Cavalry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, since September.

Lee deployed to Iraq from June 2011 to January 2012. His awards and decorations include the Army Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon and Combat Infantry Badge.

The accident that killed Lee is under investigation by the Harker Heights Police Department, officials said.
