The Fort Hood Officers’ Spouses Club ran its 32nd holiday bazaar Saturday and Sunday at the Killeen Civic and Conference Center.

Outside the event, food trucks sold shaved ice as attendees sat outside, enjoying the unexpectedly warm weekend.

“We’ve had an amazing turnout,” said Tracy Curran, club president. “It’s the best in four years.” With more than 120 vendors, there was something for everyone at the bazaar.

Vendor All Tied Out sold its women’s accessories handmade from men’s ties.

“She was crazy about ties,” Adrian Evans said of one of her co-creators, “and I knew how to sew.”

The two, along with a third military spouse, crafted everything from Christmas tree skirts and vests to belts and hair accessories out of re-purposed ties.

“We’ve gotten an awesome response,” Evans said of the bazaar. “We get a lot of comments on how different and creative it is.”

It was the group’s first year selling at the event after forming in March.

Patrick Ross and Glenna Hillis-Ross have been selling their wares through their company The Caseworks for more than eight years at the bazaar.

“We cater to the military,” he said. “They’re the best customers in the world.” The couple’s offerings include military award displays made of wood and items carved out of stone.

Attendee Maleah Mitchell purchased goat milk-based soaps for her co-workers at Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center.

She usually makes her own soaps, but bought these items for Christmas gifts this year.

More than 1,300 people walked through the door Saturday, said the bazaar chairwoman Christine Ramos. “We’re having a blast,” she said.

All proceeds from the event will go back to the community, Curran said. The group provides monetary grants to local and national charities.
