FORT HOOD — Fort Hood officials have released the name of a soldier found dead in his Copperas Cove residence on Friday.

Spc. Bradley Michael Acker, 25, whose home of record is listed as Canandaigua, N.Y., joined the Army in October 2010 as a Multiple Launch Rocket System crewmember and later reclassified as an aircraft power plant repairer.

He was assigned to the 1st Air Cavalry Brigade, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, since October 2014.

Acker’s awards and decorations include the Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Medal, Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal and the Army Service Ribbon.

The incident is under investigation by the Copperas Cove Police Department. Cove police spokesman Sgt. Martin Ruiz said the cause of death was self-inflicted.
