Fort Hood releases name of soldier found dead in Killeen

FORT HOOD — Fort Hood officials have released the name of a soldier who died from an apparent gunshot wound Sept. 17 in Killeen.

Pvt. Nathan Joshua Berg, 20, whose home of record is listed as Bellevue, Neb., entered active-duty military service in May 2016 as an infantryman. He was assigned to Reception Detachment, United States Army Garrison, Fort Hood, since September 2016.

Berg’s awards and decorations include National Defense Service Medal and Army Service Ribbon.

Circumstances surrounding this incident are under investigation by the Killeen Police Department.

Killen police said the wound appeared to be self-inflicted.
