FORT HOOD — Fort Hood kicked off the holiday season Thursday evening with the annual tree lighting ceremony at the III Corps headquarters.

Maj. Gen. J.T. Thomson, III Corps and Fort Hood deputy commander, presided at the ceremony.

The Patriot Choir from Killeen’s Oveta Culp Hobby Elementary School was accompanied by the 1st Cavalry Division Band in traditional holiday songs, with those in attendance encouraged to sing along.

After the switch was thrown to light the tree, children were able to head indoors to have their photo taken with Santa Claus in the headquarters atrium.
