The U.S. Army assigned Col. Tara A. Osborn to Maj. Nidal Hasan's court-martial in December 2012 following the ouster of the previous judge by a military appeals court.

Osborn is the Chief Circuit Judge at Fort Bragg. Since her appointment, she has travelled between the base and Fort Hood for regular hearings.

She has been on active duty since 1988. Prior to her assignment to the Army's Second Judicial Circuit, her assignments included at Fort Stewart, Korea, Germany and Fort McNair. Osborn was also assigned to Fort Hood from 1996 to 1999.
