Maj. Eduardo Caraveo

Caraveo came to the United States from Ciudad Juárez, Mexico, as a teenager.

He spoke little English, but eventually put himself through college and earned a Ph.D.

As an officer assigned to the Wisconsin Army Reserve’s 467th Medical Detachment, a combat stress control unit, Caraveo helped combat units cope with the stress of deployments. Caraveo, of Woodbridge, Va., is survived by his wife, sons and stepdaughters.

He was 52 at the time of his death.
