Fort Hood Family Housing is working to fill vacancies through several incentive programs.
The company offers an $800 move-in incentive for families, cash they can receive immediately upon signing a lease. This amount increased $200 since June.
“Additional incentives (are) available for specific homes in those communities,” said Marvin Williams, director of property management with Fort Hood Family Housing, referring to Pershing Park and Walker Village. “The incentive is based on the number of days the (individual) home stood vacant.”
A $750 incentive is in place for residents who refer new ones. This amount too, has increased in recent months.
“It’s been very successful,” Williams said.
According to him, Fort Hood housing experiences a “steady mix” of families moving on post from surrounding cities and from other duty stations.
“While housing is highly sought-after by service members (moving) to the area, we have had great response from residents moving on post after their leases expire,” Williams said.
A third perk being offered to Fort Hood residents is access to a free 3-year-old prekindergarten course.
The free program is only open to Killeen Independent School District students at Fort Hood, furthering attempts to encourage on-post living.
