SteveK: Incentive very funny.... Try Clearing...It will cost you a lot more than $800...

Make sure you read the fine print at the bottom of the page on costs to clear housing. These are some of there older prices...
Like - "Pet Treatment $85 Per Rm", "Concrete Surfaces $20-$30", "Flower Removal $25 and up", "Satellite Dish Removal $40 per dish" and "Lawn Repair (Sod) $7.60 sq yd"

Just look up Fort Hood Departing Residents default and look at the bottom of the page.

If your getting $800 up front expect to pay over $800 to get out.

WRH

WRH: I am a retired CSM and sort of confused by this article and the bribe that is being given to fill Government Military Housing.
If the rules are relatively the same as when I was on active duty from the late 50's through mid 80's any individual receiving a Class Q allotment (referred to now as housing allowances) the soldier paid into the allotment t and the military subsidized it. This was intended to assist paying for housing. If You lived on post You didn't contribute nor get this allotment.
In early 1968 after returning from a tour of duty in Vietnam I was assigned to Ft Bragg. I was a Sgt E5. I was married with 3 children. When I arrived at Bragg and processed into My Unit and Post, one of the places I was required to check-in with was [post Housing.
I told the Housing people that it was my intention to live off post. I was informed that Ft Bragg had adequate Housing meeting My requirements and authorization (according to rank and size of family). I was told that I could refuse Post Housing and live off post "BUT" I would lose My Class Q authorized Allowance. By living on post I was receiving Housing and Utilities in place of the Class Q Allotment.
So I ask You!!! Why the bribe when the Taxes of the Citizen pay for the housing to be built are available to be occupied by Soldiers families?
My comment isn't a attempt to take away anything in the form of entitlements but rather help the Military Family with the high cost of renting and leasing off post.
