FORT HOOD — The continuing loud booms heard by Central Texas residents are from training at Fort Hood, according to post officials.

The 1st and 2nd Battalions of the 82nd Field Artillery Regiment, 1st Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, are participating in continuous 155 mm artillery training through Feb. 26.

“The training is occurring in training areas that are facing to the center area on the range,” said post spokesman Christopher Haug. “There is no danger to the general public in any neighboring public areas outside the range.”

It may not pose a threat or danger to our community, but some of us in the community are hard working people who get up early to travel to our jobs. These artillery explosions go well into the night and start back up early in the morning. There should be a set time for them to stop at night that doesn't keep people awake at night.
