FORT HOOD — Troopers of 2nd Squadron, 38th Cavalry Regiment, 504th Battlefield Surveillance Brigade, conducted a “Recon Readiness Challenge” this week.
The training required soldiers to run a 1.8-mile course with obstacles, including assessing a casualty, identifying unexploded ordnance and shooting 20 rounds from a 9 mm handgun.
“Throughout the course, they are expected to have a high state of readiness, both mentally and physically,” said Capt. Brian Jones, of the squadron operations shop. The course also challenged healthy competition among troopers, he said. “We constantly challenge our soldiers to push themselves further and faster.”
