The commander of Fort Hood's 1st Medical Brigade was selected for a new post, the Army chief of staff announced today.

Col. Bertram C. Providence, who was nominated for promotion to the rank of brigadier general was announced to the position of command surgeon for U.S. Army Forces Command at Fort Bragg, N.C.

Providence took command of 1st Medical Brigade in January 2013. It is the Army’s largest medical brigade, which has five battalions located at Fort Hood, Fort Bliss, Fort Sam Houston, Fort Campbell, Ky., and Fort Polk, La.
