UPDATE 3:39 p.m.:  The fire has spread to include four other small fires, said Fort Hood Fire Chief Billy Rhoads. No homes or structures are in danger. The blaze is just north of the Blackwell multi-use range, according to post officials.

The 911 call of the fire came in around 1:30 p.m., Rhoads said.


UPDATE 2:26 p.m.: A Fort Hood official said the fire covers 500 acres and is in the "impact area" of Fort Hood's training area, which may include unexploded ordnance. Helicopters are being staged to fight the fire, and other fire departments are on standby to help.


UPDATE 2:13 p.m. According to the Killeen Police Department,  the grass fire is not threatening Killeen at this time.


UPDATE 2:06 p.m. The fire is on post at Fort Hood. Check back for updates.


A fire has been reported in north Killeen near Fort Hood Street and Rancier Avenue. A reporter and photographer are headed to the scene. Updates will be posted as more information is received.
