A preliminary autopsy report released Tuesday identified the 56-year-old man killed on Root Avenue in Killeen Sunday.
The report indicated, Charles Randolph Weller died from multiple gunshot wounds and smoke inhalation.
Weller died early Sunday morning inside his house in the 700 block of Root Avenue. Neighbors called police after seeing two suspicious men leaving the home.
When officers arrived, they found the front door of the home open and saw flames.
Police have made no arrests in Weller's death.
"We really need people to call Crime Stoppers and give us information about this. They can remain anonymous," said Killeen Police Department spokeswoman Carroll Smith said.
The suspects are described as two men, 6 feet tall, both weighing about 160 pounds.
Police believe the men also stole a green 1996 Chevrolet pickup from the residence, which investigators located Monday in the 800 block of Northside Drive.
The Killeen Fire Marshal's office and Killeen police continue to investigate Weller's death.
