LAMPASAS — Stacy Brack, a member of the Lampasas city team for almost 25 years, will hang her two hats and leave at the end of the month.

Brack will leave her positions as city secretary and assistant city manager after working in various departments and roles at city hall since she was in high school.

After high school, Brack joined the city’s utility department. Over the following years, with less than three years total out of action for various reasons, Brack worked under public works, code enforcement, customer service and parks and recreation before entering an assistant city secretary position.

Eventually, she became the city secretary and also filled in as city manager during times the position was open.

“She had a large impact on the city and helped with several of the larger projects through the years,” Lampasas Mayor Jerry Grayson said. “Her overall knowledge of the inner workings of the city was the biggest thing.”

At the start of January, Brack and her two children will move to Hohenfels, Germany, a training post where her husband works as a controller-observer.

An almost-lifelong Lampasas resident, Brack said she would miss her family and friends in the city.

“This is home,” she said. “I grew up essentially working for the city. It’s very special to me. I’m going to miss a lot of people.”

Brack said her family will spend at least three years in Germany.

In the meantime, Grayson said the city would first take applications from within to fill the vacant seat of city secretary.

“Any employee, we hate to see them retire or leave,” he said. “You like to keep them, especially those with years of experience.”

In addition to Brack, Randy Clark, director of the Public Works Department, will retire in the first week of January, leaving the city with another seat to fill.

“He’s been here as long as Stacy (Brack) has,” Grayson said. “We’re losing nearly 50 years of experience between the two.”
