BELTON — While a lot of young athletes in the country are playing softball, basketball or baseball this spring, a growing number of them are taking up Ultimate Frisbee.

This phenomenon was in evidence Saturday on a soccer field at Heritage Park, when 80 players on six teams participated in an all-day round robin tournament. The players charged about in T-shirts and shorts, unmindful of the 60-degree weather.

Glad to see Ultimate growing in the area, and that the spirit of the game still appears to be intact. I played with the Supremes for years in Austin back in the 80s. We were the first women's team in Austin. Met lots of great people, had tons of fun playing and going to tournaments. Keep Ultimate Weird!
