Two Killeen schools that had been on external lockdown over the noon hour were back at normal status early Friday afternoon, a Killeen school district spokeswoman confirmed.

Brookhaven Elementary and Rancier Middle School, both in northeast Killeen, had been on external lockdown at the request of the Killeen Police Department.

That means no one was allowed to enter the school facilities while the lockdown was in effect, said Leslie Gilmore, Killeen Independent School District spokeswoman.

The reason for the lockdown was not immediately available.
