Amber Alert lifted after Heights infant found safe

HARKER HEIGHTS — The Harker Heights Police Department lifted an Amber Alert Thursday afternoon after a 7-month-old girl taken by her noncustodial mother was found by police.

Harker Heights police officers found Kyndle Windham, unharmed, about 4 p.m. in the 900 block of Adams Street in Killeen.

The infant had been missing for several hours.

Around 3:05 p.m. the infant’s mother, CheKenya Windham, 23, was taken into custody at Fort Hood by Harker Heights police officers.

The Amber Alert was issued after the infant was taken from a foster home during a scheduled supervised visit with her mother in the 2100 block of Diana Loop in Harker Heights, police said.

According to police, the child is now in the care of Child Protective Services.
