Attorney drops motion for continuance in Grisham trial

Posted

TEMPLE — Motions for a continuance and a change of venue filed by Blue Rannefeld, attorney for Army Master Sgt. Christopher Grisham, were withdrawn in a hearing Friday presided over by Judge Neel Richardson.

On Thursday, retired 146th District Court Judge Rick Morris denied Rannefeld’s motion to replace Richardson as the presiding judge for Grisham’s second misdemeanor trial, set to begin with jury selection at 9:30 a.m. Monday.

Grisham is charged with interference with the duties of a peace officer. His first trial, which gained national attention because of its gun-rights implications, ended with a hung jury because the six jurors couldn’t come to a unanimous decision as to Grisham’s guilt or innocence.
