An autopsy identified a decomposed body as that of a woman who was reported missing in Killeen more than a week ago.

Bell County sheriff’s deputies received a call from hunters who discovered a body at 8:44 a.m. Sunday in a field south of the intersection of Chaparral and West Trimmier roads in south Killeen.

The sheriff’s department identified the body as Angie Leigh Rogers, 23, who was reported missing to the Killeen Police Department on July 27.

The Southwest Institute of Forensic Sciences in Dallas reported Rogers died of a gunshot wound, but does not list how long she was dead. Judge Bill Cooke pronounced Rogers dead at 9:13 a.m. Sunday.

There is no suspect at this time, said Lt. Donnie Adams, a sheriff’s department spokesman. Officers continue to investigate the case as a homicide.
