Charges are pending against a woman who was driving the wrong way on U.S. Highway 190, causing a head-on collision that killed a Killeen man Wednesday, according to police.

Nolanville Police Chief Gary L. Kent did not release the woman’s name or say what those charges might be, but he said the charges could be filed within the next few days. The crash occurred on the U.S. 190 overpass in Nolanville.

Kent said investigators still don’t know why the woman was driving east in the westbound lane about 12:30 a.m. Wednesday, when she collided with another car with two men in it. The passenger in that car, 29-year-old Dante Fair, died. The other man and the woman were taken to Scott & White Hospital in Temple. Kent said they are still recovering from their injuries, but did not know their conditions.
