FORT HOOD — Two military families were displaced Saturday after a vehicle on Yeakel Street in Pershing Park caught fire.

Fort Hood Family Housing received notification of the fire at 6:10 p.m. Saturday.

It started in a vehicle and quickly spread to the carport and the rest of the home, according to a family housing news release.

The home received substantial external and internal damage, said Tyler Broadway, III Corps public affairs officer.

Fort Hood Family Housing made accommodations for those affected by the blaze and will continue work with them.

“Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families affected” said Marvin Williams, director of property management. “The safety and comfort of our residents is our top priority and we will make sure they have a place to live as they work through this.”

Authorities are investigating the cause of the fire.
