A suspicious substance closed a Fort Hood gate for several hours Monday.
Around 3:30 p.m. the Fort Hood Directorate of Emergency Services closed the Clark Road north gate to both inbound and outbound traffic after a suspicious substance was found during a random inspection of a flat-bed tractor trailer truck, Fort Hood officials said in a news release Tuesday.
As a precautionary measure the truck was moved to a secure area so Fort Hood’s explosive ordnance disposal team could further examine and identify the substance, officials said. After further investigation, the substance was deemed safe, and the gate was reopened at 10:45 p.m.
