Fort Hood officials released Tuesday the name of a soldier who was found unresponsive at his off-post residence Sunday.

Spc. Elliot Rafael Davis, 26, of McDonough, Ga., was pronounced dead by Bell County Justice of the Peace Garland Potvin at 7:15 a.m.

Davis entered the military in January 2008 as a ammunition specialist. He arrived at Fort Hood in July 2008 and was assigned to 664th Ordnance Company, 13th Sustainment Command, since December 2008.

He deployed to Iraq from December 2008 to December 2009.

Davis’ awards and decorations include the Army Commendation Medal, two Army Achievement Medals, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, and Driver and Mechanic Badge with Driver Wheeled Vehicle.

Circumstances surrounding this incident are currently under investigation.
