Maj. Gen. Fred Rudesheim, U.S. Army South commanding general, will be the guest speaker at Wednesday’s meeting of the Central Texas-Fort Hood Chapter of the Association of the United States Army.

Rudesheim received his Army commission through ROTC as a 1981 distinguished military graduate of the University of Texas at Austin.

He has been assigned to Fort Hood three times in his career. He served as a company commander in the 2nd Armored Division. As a lieutenant colonel, he commanded 1st Battalion, 9th Cavalry, 1st Cavalry Division.

Rudesheim returned to Fort Hood as a general officer, serving as the deputy commander of III Corps and deputy commanding general of 1st Cavalry, deploying to Iraq from February 2009 to January 2010.

The meeting will take place at the Killeen Civic and Conference Center, beginning at 6 p.m.

Tickets are $18 each and are available at the Central Texas-Fort Hood Chapter’s website,, and at the Killeen, Harker Heights, Copperas Cove, Belton and Temple Chambers of Commerce.

On Fort Hood, tickets also may be purchased at Fort Hood National Bank on T.J. Mills Boulevard and at the III Corps Protocol Office.
