Gillum Cemetery recognized as part of Texas history

The Texas Historical Commission recognized Gillum Cemetery as a significant part of Texas history by awarding it an Official Texas Historical Marker.

The designation honors the cemetery as an important and educational part of local history.

A dedication ceremony to commemorate the event will be at 11 a.m. May 11 at Farm-to-Market 2657, Oakalla.

Speakers will include Dr. Marsha Farney and the District Judge Dan Mills.

The public is invited.
