Killeen High School Principal Michael Sibberson was named the lone finalist for superintendent of Hawley Independent School District, according to a statement from Killeen ISD.

Hawley ISD is about 12 miles north of Abilene and has an enrollment of about 720 students.

Sibberson has worked in the Killeen school district for 25 years, and has been principal at KHS for 11 years. He was also an assistant principal and physics teacher at KHS.

“The move to Hawley is a very bittersweet move for me,” Sibberson said Friday in a statement. “I love Killeen and I am leaving a great school district. The opportunities that I have had have been incredible and the students that I have taught and led have made my time in Killeen an incredible experience.”

Killeen Superintendent Robert Muller said Sibberson “has done a fine job at Killeen High School.”

“I know that he will succeed in his new assignment,” Muller said. “I wish him well.”
