Killeen officials recommend trick-or-treating door to door from 6 and 8 p.m. Thursday.

Households that wish to distribute goodies should turn on the front porch lights to indicate they welcome trick-or-treaters.

Trick-or-treaters should only approach houses that have porch lights on.

The city offers a free Halloween carnival featuring games, arts and crafts, a haunted house and pumpkin patch from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Special Events Center, 3301 S. W.S. Young Drive.

Children should dress in costume and bring a bag for candy.
