COPPERAS COVE — Casa Ole’ restaurant was evacuated Thursday night and remained closed Friday due to a small fire that occurred in an electrical box in the kitchen.

The Copperas Cove Fire Department was dispatched at 10:10 p.m. to the restaurant on U.S. Highway 190. Three fire engines, two ambulances and one command unit responded to the call, according to a fire department news release.

Restaurant personnel extinguished the fire with a portable fire extinguisher before the fire department arrived.

The fire marshal conducted an investigation and found the cause of the fire to be isolated to an electrical plug box in the kitchen area. The plug box, electrical cords and the immediate area surrounding the box were damaged, according to the news release. No smoke damage was reported and no one was injured.

The restaurant will remain closed until the electrical equipment is repaired.
