LAMPASAS — Several area residents, most of whom are students, submitted a petition to the City Council to create a skate park in Lampasas during a workshop meeting Monday.

The city installed a small ramp in Campbell Park in 2002, but officials said the skating area was a victim of vandalism and abuse.

Nevertheless, with about 150 signatures gathered in a few days, students won the support of the council.

Officials urged students to spearhead the endeavor.

Councilman Michael White said he will help the students take the next steps in the process.
