Metroplex Hospital in Killeen will host the 31st annual Silver Classic 5K Run and 3K Walk on Sunday at the hospital building as part of the Cen-Tex Race Series.

The series offers local runners over a dozen races throughout the year.

Last year, more than 500 runners and walkers registered for the Silver Classic, making it one of the largest in the series.

Participants in the Silver Classic are chip-timed and placed in gender groups based on age.

Trophies will be awarded to the man and woman runner and walker with the best overall time, as well as the first-place runner and walker in each category.

Medals will be awarded to the second- and third-place runners and walkers in each category.

The Silver Classic is the primary fundraiser for the Metroplex Wellness department, which promotes health and wellness in the community through free services and educational wellness classes.

Registration begins at 7 a.m., and the race will start at 8:30 a.m.

The hospital is at 2201 S. Clear Creek Road.
