A 46-year-old motorcyclist is dead after crashing into a parked truck Sunday afternoon.

Justice of the Peace Bill Cooke pronounced the man dead at 6:42 p.m. in the 4300 block of Bridgewater Drive in southwest Killeen.

Police have not released the man’s name pending notification of next of kin.

Killeen police spokeswoman Carroll Smith said speed played a role in the man’s death. He was driving at a high rate of speed northbound on Bridgewater Drive at about 5:40 p.m. when he failed to negotiate a curve,

The bike then crashed into a truck parked in front of a home. Smith said the truck was parked legally.
