The Fort Hood deer bow hunting season was halted until further notice due to the government shutdown.

Fort Hood officials said Natural Resource Management Branch wildlife specialists are on furlough, leaving the post without the manpower to track data necessary to manage wildlife.

No decisions have been made on deer gun and rifle hunting. Those seasons start Nov. 2.

Small-game hunting, including dove, rabbit, squirrel and pig, fishing and area access recreational activities are permitted.
