Lampasas County extended its burn ban to July 27.

The extension was approved by commissioners Monday. Night fires are illegal as well, officials said.

Exceptions to the ban include household trash burned in a barrel with a screen on top and barbecue pits for cooking.

The only other special exceptions are fires for agricultural purposes with prior approval from the Lampasas County Fire Marshal.

Violation may result in a class C misdemeanor and a $500 fine.
